Buyer’s guide
How to specify custom mascara wands and eyebrow brushes.
A useful production brief goes beyond a reference photo. It defines how the applicator should be used, feel and perform—and gives samples and inspections a clear standard.
Bring an existing sample if available, expected quantities, target dimensions, intended use, bristle preferences, packaging requirements and the delivery destination. If some details are unknown, Link can help turn the use case into a workable specification.
Start with the application
Define who will use the applicator, how it will be handled, whether it supports a professional treatment or a consumer product, and what the user needs to accomplish. The use case should drive the dimensions and materials—not the other way around.
Specify the handle
Record total length, diameter, shape, color and surface feel. A shorter professional-use handle may offer more control, while a longer handle can improve reach or presentation. Confirm whether dimensions are exact requirements or acceptable ranges.
Define the working end
For mascara wands, identify the wand profile, overall brush length, diameter, taper and flexibility. For angled eyebrow brushes, define brush-head width, bristle length, cut angle and required firmness. These are separate product specifications.
Translate feel into measurable bristle choices
Words such as soft, dense or firm are useful starting points, but samples should establish the approved standard. Material, filament thickness, length, density and arrangement work together to create the final performance.
Approve a production standard
Evaluate samples in the intended use, document any changes, and approve a final reference sample with measurable specifications. Production inspections should compare finished goods with that agreed standard before shipment.
Separate specifications
Two products, two performance standards.
Mascara wands
Focus on spiral profile, brush length and diameter, bristle density, softness, taper, flexibility and handle dimensions.
Eyebrow brushes
Focus on brush-head width, bristle length, cut angle, firmness, edge definition and handle dimensions.
